Davies Best Yellowstone County District Judge Choice – Letter of Support to the Billings Gazette
It was my privilege to get to know Mark and other remarkable law enforcement officers during my time as a judge. I am deeply honored to have his support. –Colette
I am a long-time resident of Montana and a 30-year veteran police officer.
I am pleased to recommend Collette Davies for the position of District Court judge here in Yellowstone County.
I have had the great pleasure of working with Collette in the capacity of a Municipal Court judge in Billings and also as a trusted colleague and friend. I met Collette in 2005 when she started as a Municipal Court judge. I have been on the BMC Treatment Court Team since 2005. I quickly learned that Collette is a very empathetic, patient person. I have attended training sessions with Collette and she has an eagerness to learn. She embraced the drug court model and we quickly became one of six National Mentor Courts under her and Judge Mary Jane Knisley’s leadership. Collette used those experiences to become a problem solver. Collette’s even temperament, empathy and openness with the clients on the bench is an example of how other judges should serve.
Collette is consistent yet adaptable. She is very fair and open on the bench but has realized that traditional sentences aren’t working.
While all the candidates are good prospects, Collette is a great prospect. Collette Davies is the best choice of the candidates that have applied for this position and I hope that you will join me and vote for her as the next 13th Judicial District Court judge.
